Five String Fiddle

Introducing the White Iris, designed with a significantly larger body size than a typical fiddle to enhance the depth of the sound. The top is European spruce, the back is maple, and the White Iris scroll is Dev's original design.

The White Iris has a responsive and bright, powerful sound. Although Dev is usually partial to adding sympathetic strings to any and all instruments, he built this one without them -- specifically for players who want more oomph when playing at high-energy dances, for example, where the expressive sound of hardanger instruments with sympathetic strings might get overpowered. The White Iris is also built to handle higher tension playing strings that enhance volume and power.
